Seibarugu, who has previously held positions as deputy to a former governor, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, and acting governor, is among those affected by this decision. The suspension was revealed during a meeting at Di Crab Hotel in Yenagoa, where Chairman Tonye Okokuro hesitated to name Seibarugu until prompted by other executive members.

The announcement of the suspensions, including those of seven individuals, was postponed after an earlier attack on Sagbama Local Government executive members by hired thugs.

In addition to Seibarugu, the suspended members include Osomkime Blankson, Alex Blankson, Chief Olomo Agbama Apina, Dr. Pakinson Mamanuel, Ebiye Waripamo, and Pastor Esther Saiyou. Notably, Blankson has contested the results of the party’s 2022 congresses, which were declared void by a court ruling.

Okokuro stated that the suspensions were based on findings from the party’s fact-finding and disciplinary committee, emphasizing the need to strengthen the party ahead of the 2027 elections.

He highlighted that Blankson manages a parallel APC Secretariat and accused the suspended members of conspiring with the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in past elections.

“As 2027 approaches, we are committed to rebuilding the party and restoring confidence among grassroots members in the state,” Okokuro said, announcing their indefinite suspension.

This follows last weekend’s suspensions of several notable party members, including Minister of State for Petroleum Resources Senator Heineken Lokpobiri and 2019 governorship candidate Chief David Lyon.
