Female Officer Fired, Husband Demoted Following Controversial Rape Video Release The Edo State Police Command has confirmed the dismissal of Inspector Edith Uduma following her involvement in a viral video that exposed Sergeant Abraham Uzuobo. Approximately three weeks ago, Sgt. Uzuobo, who was assigned to the Edo State Command, made headlines after being accused of raping a minor detained at the South-Ibie Police Division. In an update regarding the case, Police Public Relations Officer Moses Yamu stated that two additional officers faced disciplinary actions. Inspector Edith Uduma recorded the viral video and allegedly sought to profit from the situation by demanding 1 million naira from Uzuobo. It was revealed that she collaborated with her husband, Inspector Ibrahim Mohammed, in this scheme.

According to the statement, Uzuobo initially offered them 45,000 naira, but they were dissatisfied with this amount. As a result, Uduma and her husband reported the matter to the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) and shared the video on social media.

Following these developments, an orderly room trial was conducted for all involved officers, culminating in the dismissal of Sgt. Uzuobo and Inspector Edith Uduma. Inspector Ibrahim Mohammed was demoted to the rank of Sergeant for his role in attempting to extort money to cover up a serious violation of the Nigeria Police’s Standard Operating Procedures.

The Edo State Police Command has emphasized that no amount of propaganda, disinformation, or misinformation will prevent Uduma and her husband from facing the consequences of their actions.
