Delta Assembly Suspends Lawmaker Over Misconduct, Awaits 2025 Budget PresentationThe Delta State House of Assembly has suspended another member, Oboro Preyor, for alleged gross misconduct, marking the third suspension within a three-month period. Following the motion’s adoption, Speaker Emomotimi Guwor ordered the Sergeant-at-Arms to escort Preyor out of the chamber, emphasizing the Assembly’s commitment to maintaining discipline. “We cannot condone misconduct within the Assembly. An ad-hoc committee will be formed to investigate the issues leading to this suspension,” Guwor stated.

Preyor’s suspension adds to a series of disciplinary actions by the Assembly, reflecting what some members have described as a “firm stance on ethical standards” within the legislature.

In other news, Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori is scheduled to present the 2025 Appropriation Bill to the House on Thursday, November 14. In a letter read by the Speaker, Governor Oborevwori formally requested to address the Assembly, outlining the proposed Recurrent and Capital estimates for the 2025 fiscal year as required by Section 121(1) of the 1999 Constitution.

The Governor’s budget presentation, set for 10 am, will detail the financial plans that will underpin the state’s projects and policies for the coming year.
