Soludo Makes Major 2027 Move, Declares APGA’s Support For Tinubu

Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, has announced that the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) will support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in the 2027 presidential election, pledging to secure at least 50 per cent of the votes in the state for him.

Soludo explained that backing Tinubu would provide the South-East with an opportunity to engage the Federal Government and negotiate for the region’s development priorities.

The governor made the declaration on Friday during the flag-off of APGA’s 2027 campaign at Ekwueme Square in Awka, where he confirmed that the party would not present its own presidential candidate in the forthcoming election.

According to Bush Radio Academy, Soludo formally announced APGA’s decision to adopt Tinubu, who is the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“Today, we adopt the APC presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as our candidate,” the governor declared.

Soludo maintained that Tinubu had demonstrated concern for the Igbo people, particularly Anambra State. He recalled that during his tenure as governor of Lagos State, the President appointed several Anambra indigenes to important positions in the state government.

He also argued that APGA’s decision was consistent with its previous support for presidential candidates of the ruling party in past elections.

The governor expressed dissatisfaction with Anambra’s voting figures in the 2023 presidential election, noting that Tinubu received fewer than 5,000 votes in the state despite what he described as efforts by the President to address some of the challenges confronting Anambra and the wider South-East.

He therefore urged residents to reconsider their voting decisions in 2027, insisting that supporting Tinubu would strengthen the region’s ability to negotiate with the Federal Government over infrastructure, development and other pressing needs.

Soludo said the South-East needed to build a constructive relationship with the government at the centre to advance its interests.

“We need to vote for him in order to sit with the government at the centre and negotiate for the development of the South-East and Anambra State,” he said.

The governor also promised that APGA would work towards delivering at least half of Anambra’s votes to Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
