2027: Atiku Makes Fresh Political Move As Legal Battle Over ADC Ticket Intensifies
Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has appointed Abdul-Aziz Na’ibi Abubakar as his Special Assistant on North-West Regional Coordination, with responsibility for overseeing campaign activities in Kano, Jigawa and Kaduna states ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The appointment was announced on Friday by Na’ibi through his X account, where he expressed appreciation to the former Vice-President for entrusting him with the responsibility.
According to Bush Radio Academy, the appointee praised Atiku for what he described as his longstanding commitment to youth inclusion and providing opportunities for young Nigerians to participate actively in politics and governance.
Na’ibi said Atiku’s political legacy had continued to inspire young people, adding that he and other supporters would work tirelessly to secure victory for the former Vice-President in the 2027 election.
He stated, “I am deeply grateful to H.E. Atiku Abubakar for finding me worthy of this responsibility. His consistent commitment to youth inclusiveness and good governance has, for decades, provided a genuine platform for young Nigerians to grow, learn, and participate meaningfully in politics.
“That legacy continues to inspire many of us. We will work relentlessly until we secure victory for him in 2027. Tinubu must go!”
The appointment comes amid legal uncertainty surrounding Atiku’s presidential ticket under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), following a ruling by Justice Peter Lifu of the Federal High Court in Abuja.
The judge nullified the decisions taken by the David Mark-led ADC caretaker committee, including the presidential primary that produced Atiku as the party’s candidate, and directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) not to recognise those decisions.
However, Atiku and the ADC have rejected the judgment, insisting that they would challenge the ruling at the Court of Appeal.
Despite the legal setback, the former Vice-President has maintained that his political campaign will continue, signalling his determination to pursue his 2027 presidential ambition.
