The apex bank emphasized that these claims are entirely false and are part of an effort by criminals to defraud unsuspecting Nigerians. CBN strongly advised the public to ignore any such fraudulent assertions.
In its statement, the CBN further clarified that, under the current leadership, the bank has ceased its direct involvement in development interventions and special projects funding. It also confirmed that the bank has not authorized any public notices related to these supposed interventions, whether through social media or other news outlets.
“The CBN remains focused on its primary mandate, which is ensuring monetary and price stability, alongside maintaining a sound and efficient financial system in Nigeria,” the statement read.
The bank also urged Nigerians to be cautious and report any suspicious activities or fraudulent claims to the appropriate law enforcement authorities.
