BRAKING: Governor Makinde Officially Signs 2025 Budget Into Law, Paving The Way For Economic Growth

During the signing ceremony on Monday, Governor Makinde highlighted that the 2025 budget is designed to stabilize the state’s economy following a challenging year in 2024.

The total budget stands at ₦684,149,398,399.06, with capital expenditures totaling ₦344,957,004,872.20 and recurrent expenditures at ₦339,192,393,526.86.

Makinde expressed gratitude to the Oyo State House of Assembly for the swift passage of the budget. “I thank the Oyo State House of Assembly for the prompt passage of the budget, which we have named the Budget of Stabilisation after a difficult 2024. Our target is to achieve at least 80% implementation,” he stated.

During an online interactive session with residents on Saturday, Makinde also revealed that no new contracts would be awarded in the 2025 fiscal year. He assured that his administration would ensure all ongoing projects are completed.

“No project will be abandoned. I’m committed to completing the Olodo Bridge project and reopening the second lane by March 2025. The Saki-Ogbooro-Igboho road is already at Ogbooro, and we will finish the BCJ-NIHORT and Wire and Cable projects before my tenure ends,” he said.

The governor further stated, “Once these projects are completed, the commissioning will be handled by the Commissioner for Public Works and Transport or possibly the Deputy Governor. I don’t plan to award new contracts after 2025; it will be all about consolidation.”
