Inside The Asset Seizure: Full List Of 48 Malami-Linked Properties Released

Delivering judgment on Wednesday, Justice Joyce Abdulmalik held that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) established sufficient legal grounds to justify the forfeiture of the assets.
The court ruled that Malami, members of his family and companies associated with the properties failed to rebut the EFCC’s claim that the assets were acquired with proceeds of unlawful activities.
Justice Abdulmalik noted that the key issue before the court was not ownership of the properties but whether the funds used to acquire them were lawfully obtained.
Consequently, the court ordered the permanent forfeiture of 48 properties to the Federal Government, while lifting the interim forfeiture order on the remaining nine assets.
The EFCC had earlier secured an interim forfeiture order covering 57 properties from the Federal High Court in Abuja in January 2026 in Suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/20/2026.
At the time, the commission’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, disclosed that the properties were valued at about ₦213.2 billion and were spread across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Kebbi, Kano and Kaduna states.
Malami served as Nigeria’s Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice between 2015 and 2023 under former President Muhammadu Buhari.
