Senate Controversy Deepens: ‘I Saw Everything, Akpabio Is Innocent!’ – Deputy Chief Whip Fires Back At Natasha
Deputy Chief Whip, Senator Onyekachi Nwaebonyi, has dismissed the sexual harassment allegations leveled by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan against Senate President Godswill Akpabio.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Senator Natasha, representing Kogi Central, had accused Akpabio of making inappropriate advances toward her during a visit to his residence in December 2023 to celebrate his birthday. She further claimed that a similar incident occurred during a subsequent visit to his office to discuss her motion on the Ajaokuta Steel Company.
However, Senator Nwaebonyi, who attended the birthday event, rejected these claims, insisting that Akpabio never acted inappropriately toward Senator Natasha.
“Regarding the sexual harassment allegations made by Natasha, I happen to be an eyewitness. As I shared on social media, I narrated exactly what transpired. On December 8, 2023, I was among the senators present at the Senate President’s birthday celebration,” Nwaebonyi stated during an interview on Arise TV on Monday, March 3, 2025.
He further explained that he had traveled to the event in the same vehicle as Senator Natasha and her husband and was actively involved in various activities with the Senate President throughout the day.
Recalling the moments upon their arrival at Akpabio’s residence, Nwaebonyi noted that Senator Natasha complained about discomfort from her shoes and remained seated with her husband while other senators explored the house.
“As we got out of the vehicle, she mentioned that her shoes were causing her discomfort, so she and her husband stayed back while I went inside to join other senators in inspecting the Senate President’s residence,” he recounted.
Nwaebonyi emphasized that Natasha did not accompany them during the house tour and reiterated that Akpabio never made any inappropriate advances toward her.
“To be clear, Senator Natasha never joined us in inspecting the Senate President’s residence. She remained in the sitting room with her husband. The Senate President led us through the house, took us to the chapel, and invited Catholic senators to join him in a Holy Mass.
“We celebrated the Mass and later gathered in the garden as he hosted us. At no point did the Senate President make any inappropriate moves toward Senator Natasha,” Nwaebonyi asserted.
