After Days In Captivity, Ondo Surveyors Secure Freedom Following Ransom Settlement

Nine surveyors who were kidnapped in Akure North Local Government Area, Ondo State, have regained their freedom after a ₦20 million ransom was paid to their abductors.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The kidnappers initially demanded ₦100 million but later reduced it to ₦50 million after market women intervened and pleaded for a lower amount. However, the captors rejected that offer before ultimately accepting ₦20 million.

According to Vanguard, Pastor Ajibade Owolanke, brother to the Ejemikin of Akure, High Chief Oluwole Omotayo, confirmed their release in Akure, the state capital.

Owolanke stated that the victims have reunited with their families. Reports indicate they were taken to various hospitals for medical care following their traumatic experience.

The surveyors were abducted last week while working at a site in Ilu-Abo, Akure North.

In reaction to the increasing wave of insecurity, market women and youths in Akure staged a protest on Tuesday, demanding urgent intervention from Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and security agencies to tackle the growing menace of kidnappings in the state.
