Grief In Law Enforcement: Taraba Police Public Relations Officer Dies
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the Taraba State Command, Abdulahi Usman, has passed away after battling a prolonged illness.
Usman, who served as the Command’s spokesperson for three years, reportedly died in the early hours of Sunday at his residence in Jalingo, the state capital.
His deputy, Gambo Kwache, who had been acting in his place during his medical leave, confirmed the sad news, revealing how he received the information.
“I woke up to 14 missed calls and a message saying, ‘Oga is dead.’ I decided to confirm it before responding,” Kwache stated.
A close associate of the late officer, Ahmed Manga, disclosed that Usman’s condition worsened unexpectedly on Saturday night.
“He wasn’t severely ill, but his condition deteriorated last night. We planned to take him to the Federal Medical Center (FMC) in Jalingo, but he passed away before we could get there. He was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital,” Manga recounted.
Usman will be laid to rest on Sunday afternoon in accordance with Islamic burial rites.
