Minor Workplace Dispute Turns D3adly As Butcher Is Accused Of K!ll!ng Colleague In Ogun
The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 21-year-old butcher, identified as Selim Ayodele, over the alleged murder of his 26-year-old colleague, Ibrahim Wasiu, following a disagreement at their workplace in Alagbole, Ogun State.
According to Bush Radio Academy, the incident occurred on October 18 after the two men reportedly completed their day’s work at a cow meat-selling outlet and became involved in an argument over who should sweep the floor.
Preliminary police investigations indicate that the disagreement escalated into a violent confrontation, during which Ayodele allegedly picked up a knife and stabbed Wasiu in the left side of his chest. The suspect was also alleged to have twisted the weapon during the attack.
The injured victim was reportedly rushed to Life Hospital for medical attention but was pronounced dead on arrival.
His remains were subsequently deposited at Life Channel Private Mortuary in Lanbe, Ajuwon, pending an autopsy to determine the circumstances surrounding his death.
The police reportedly received information about the incident at Ajuwon Police Station at approximately 8:00 p.m., prompting officers to respond and commence an investigation that led to the suspect’s arrest.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed the incident, stating that Ayodele remained in police custody as investigations continued.
Babaseyi added that the case would be taken through the appropriate legal process, with prosecution expected to follow the conclusion of the investigation.
The incident has raised concerns over how a seemingly minor workplace disagreement could escalate into a fatal confrontation. The suspect’s alleged involvement remains subject to the outcome of police investigations and judicial proceedings.
