Justice For Hunters: Tinubu Declares Manhunt For Perpetrators OF Edo Massacre

President Bola Tinubu has instructed the Police and other security agencies to promptly and thoroughly investigate the brutal murder of traveling hunters intercepted by local vigilantes in the Uromi community, Esan North Local Government Area of Edo State.

According to reports, Tinubu, in a statement on Friday, March 28, 2025, through his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, directed security agencies to bring the suspected perpetrators to justice. The President condemned the killings and expressed his condolences to the families of the victims.

The statement read: “The President, expressing his shock at the tragic incident, conveyed his sympathies to the bereaved families and reassured them that criminals would not be allowed to shed innocent blood without consequences.”

The statement further emphasized that jungle justice is unacceptable in Nigeria, and every citizen has the right to move freely across the country.

President Tinubu also praised Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, and Uromi community leaders for their prompt intervention in preventing further escalation of tensions.

Meanwhile, Governor Monday Okpebholo has strongly condemned the killing and burning of the suspected kidnappers. In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, on Friday, March 28, 2025, the governor described the incident as “barbaric and unacceptable,” stressing that acts of jungle justice have no place in Edo State.

Speaking on behalf of the governor, the Chief Security Officer (CSO) of Government House, SP Solomon Osaghale, vowed to identify and prosecute those responsible for the killings.
