The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) South-South Zonal Secretary, George Turnah, has dismissed the security concerns raised by Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, as unfounded.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Turnah clarified that the proposed rally, intended to support President Bola Tinubu and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, Nyesom Wike, poses no threat to peace in the state. He criticized Governor Diri’s claim that the rally, organized by Wike’s political movement, was a deliberate attempt to cause unrest.
In a statement released by his Media Assistant, Kelvin Loveday, Turnah expressed disappointment over Diri’s reaction, emphasizing that his association with Wike is purely based on support for President Tinubu’s administration in the South-South Zone, without any ulterior motives. He also condemned the politicization of the rally and stated that ethnicity should not influence political decisions.
Turnah reminded Diri that the same Ogbia leaders and elders who Diri urged to call him to order were the ones who, in 2019, advised against supporting Diri’s gubernatorial ambition—a request that Turnah respectfully ignored.
Reiterating his commitment to the PDP, Turnah expressed surprise at Diri’s displeasure over his association with Wike, emphasizing his constitutional right to freedom of association. He also praised Diri’s achievements and assured his continued support for the governor’s prosperity administration.
Turnah urged youths, women, and political groups across party lines to come out in large numbers to show appreciation to President Tinubu and the FCT Minister for their dedication to Bayelsa State and the Ijaw nation.
