Governor Fubara’s Suspended Officials To Get Paid: Rivers State Confirms March Salary Approval

The directive, issued by the state’s Administrator, Retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, was conveyed through a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Ibibia.

As part of the directive, the Accountant-General has been instructed to expedite the salary disbursement without delay.

This decision comes in the wake of rising concerns from labor unions, particularly the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), which recently threatened industrial action over delayed salary payments.

According to the statement, Vice Admiral (RTD) Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas CFR, as the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, has authorized the payment of March 2025 salaries for all civil servants in the Rivers State Civil Service, public servants, pensioners, and suspended political appointees.

The NLC had previously warned that the continued delay in wage payments could prompt a statewide shutdown of government functions.

The Rivers State Government’s move is expected to ease tensions with labor unions, who have been persistent in demanding timely salary payments.

The Administrator reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to meeting its obligations, directing the Accountant-General to ensure the prompt remittance of March 2025 salaries.
