Veteran Nollywood actor, Patrick Doyle, has claimed that the real estate sector has become a major avenue for money laundering in Nigeria.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Speaking during an interview on Echo Room with media personality Quincy Jones, Doyle expressed concern over the numerous completed but uninhabited houses in Abuja and the Lekki area of Lagos State, attributing the situation to exorbitant prices.

He questioned why, despite the high costs, construction continues unabated while many properties remain empty. Doyle remarked, “If you go to Abuja and many estates in the Lekki corridor, you will see plenty of houses completed and uninhabited. If the prices are too high, why are people still building despite the lack of occupancy? That should tell you something.”

According to him, the real estate sector has become a prominent channel for laundering illicit funds, with illegal money being funneled into construction. He described the phenomenon as “artificial,” expressing disbelief at the abundance of uncompleted buildings amid a housing shortage.

Doyle also highlighted a striking example of an individual reportedly owning about 7,000 apartments in a single estate in Abuja, suggesting that such investments serve as a way to store stolen funds rather than keep cash at home.
