Speaking to journalists in Port Harcourt, Nweke accused the suspended Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, of being the mastermind behind the recent political crisis in the state, alleging that Fubara orchestrated the destruction of public assets with ulterior motives that could have led to anarchy.
Nweke clarified that his resignation was entirely voluntary, denying any claims of dismissal or external pressure.
Addressing the crisis, Nweke accused Governor Fubara of directing his Chief of Staff, Edison Ehie, to burn down the Rivers State House of Assembly complex in a bid to prevent impeachment. Nweke claimed to have witnessed the governor handing over a bag of money to Ehie for the operation, although he did not know the exact amount.
Nweke alleged that the governor had even planned to demolish the residential quarters of Assembly members, a plot that was reportedly foiled by public outcry. He urged those opposing the emergency declaration to rethink their position, affirming that President Tinubu acted in the nation’s best interest.
