In a statement titled ‘Whither Nigeria, my beloved country,’ released on Wednesday, George lamented the nation’s current state, criticizing the government for prioritizing trivial matters, such as the recall of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan from Kogi Central, while the country grapples with insecurity, hunger, and other challenges. He condemned the government’s focus on such issues, despite the widespread fear and suffering among Nigerians.

The PDP stalwart further expressed his deep concerns about the nation’s leadership, accusing the government of ignoring reason and introducing policies that threaten to destabilize the country. He noted that Nigeria seems to be dangerously veering toward self-destruction, drawing unsettling parallels with the events that led to the collapse of the First and Second Republics.

He stated, “Today, amidst the numerous crises—ranging from insecurity and hunger to joblessness and other societal ills—President Tinubu has departed for Paris, France, for reasons only he and his team understand. While Nigerians live in fear, the Federal Government and the APC are preoccupied with recalling Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan. It is shameful.”

George added, “History is not only a record of the past, but also a warning of what lies ahead. This is why Fela’s song remains relevant even decades later. I see the same mistakes that led to the collapse of our earlier republics being repeated by the APC-led government.”
