In an interview with Vanguard, Wabara highlighted the party’s resurgence in the region, particularly following the return of Chijioke Edeoga, the 2023 Labour Party (LP) governorship candidate in Enugu State, to the PDP. He praised Edeoga’s decision as a bold move, indicating the PDP’s growing influence in the South-East.

Acknowledging that the PDP lost some South-East states to other parties during the 2023 elections, Wabara pointed to the increasing number of aggrieved members returning to the party as a sign of recovery. He expressed optimism that the party’s growing unity would position it to make a significant impact in the upcoming elections.

Wabara emphasized his belief that the South-East would return to its PDP roots by 2027, reclaiming what was lost. He also commended Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State for his transformative leadership and development initiatives, which have weakened opposition forces and enhanced the PDP’s image.

Praising Mbah’s achievements, Wabara noted that his successful governance had solidified the party’s credibility. He also applauded the efforts of PDP lawmakers at the national and state levels for their role in rebuilding the party’s strength.

Wabara called on all former PDP members who left after the 2023 elections to return and join the party’s efforts to restore its dominance. He reaffirmed that the PDP remains the credible alternative for the 2027 elections, with Nigerians increasingly looking to the party for leadership.
