Plateau Gets Financial Boost As Mutfwang Signs ₦109.7bn Budget Into Law

Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has assented to the ₦109.7 billion supplementary budget for 2025, following its swift passage by the State House of Assembly.

The appropriation, which covers September to December, is designed to bridge financial shortfalls and strengthen government services in key sectors. Presenting the bill for assent, Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Philemon Daffi, commended lawmakers for their prompt consideration of the budget.

Speaking at the signing ceremony in Government House, Rayfield, Governor Mutfwang stressed that the supplementary budget was vital to sustaining ongoing projects and interventions. He highlighted security as the foundation of Plateau’s socio-economic revival, noting that improved safety in Jos had already boosted economic activities, especially in the hospitality industry.

“Hotels are fully booked because of the confidence visitors now have in our state. This is proof that Plateau is regaining its place as a destination of choice,” he said.

Despite the progress, the governor acknowledged persistent security threats in border communities and appealed for stronger military presence alongside aerial surveillance in areas such as Mushere, Chakfem, Qua’an Pan, Wase, and Kanam.

During a courtesy visit by the Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal J. Usman, Mutfwang urged the Nigerian Air Force to expedite deployment of platforms to enhance surveillance and ensure sustained peace. He pledged continued cooperation with security agencies and called on local communities to support military formations in their regions.

In response, Air Vice Marshal Usman thanked the governor for the support given to the Air Force and assured that operational efficiency and security efforts across Plateau would be sustained. He further revealed plans to host the Air Force Provost Conference in Jos — a decision he described as a show of confidence in Plateau’s growing stability.
