Political Earthquake In Kano: Kwankwaso Slams Rumours Of Defecting To APC
Former presidential candidate and New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) chieftain, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has dismissed reports suggesting he has finalized plans to return to the All Progressives Congress (APC).....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Kwankwaso also refuted claims that he wrote to the APC National Chairman notifying him of an intention to rejoin the party. He equally debunked allegations that Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, was preparing to defect alongside him.
In a statement released via his official account on Friday, the former Kano governor urged the public to ignore what he described as fake news and rely only on credible, official sources.
“We have been alerted to some online statements suggesting that we have submitted a letter of intent to join a political party in the country. We wish to state clearly that no such submission has been made to any party. The public is therefore advised to follow only information from official and established channels,” Kwankwaso clarified.
Meanwhile, during a recent interaction with supporters, Kwankwaso expressed openness to returning to the APC if he and his loyalists would be adequately valued. He stressed that he was among the party’s founding leaders but left during the Muhammadu Buhari administration due to neglect and lack of recognition.
He added that any move back to the APC—or any other party—would depend on firm agreements and assurances of fair treatment. Kwankwaso also recalled leaving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for similar reasons.
Looking ahead to the 2027 elections, Kwankwaso maintained that his political value has grown since parting ways with both the APC and PDP. While in no rush to leave the NNPP, he declared readiness to collaborate with any party, provided there is honesty and transparency in the partnership.
