In an internal memo dated September 25, 2025, and signed by the refinery’s Chief General Manager of Human Asset Management, Femi Adekunle, management described the move as part of a “comprehensive reorganisation.”
The notice further alleged that the action was triggered by “reported cases of sabotage” detected in different sections of the refinery.
Affected workers were instructed to return all company property to their supervisors and secure exit clearance, while the finance department was directed to calculate and pay their outstanding entitlements in line with the terms of service.
The memo concluded with an appreciation note: “Management appreciates your services while in our employment and wishes you success in your future endeavours.”
Speaking to Daily Post on Friday, Osifo, who also doubles as the President of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), reassured that the dismissed staff would eventually be reinstated.
“Yes, it is true. We saw the letter late last night (Wednesday). I can assure you that they will recall all of them,” he said.
