In a statement made available to Saturday PUNCH, Ogbaloi said the Labour Party is founded on values of decorum, mutual respect, and constructive engagement, and therefore disapproves of any physical confrontation or assault.

His reaction follows a heated face-off between Mama Pee and the factional National Chairman of the party, Julius Abure, last Saturday at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

According to reports, Mama Pee confronted Abure as he prepared to board a Max Air flight to Benin, accusing him of being responsible for Nigeria’s political woes.

“Is this not Julius Abure? You’re the one frustrating Nigerians,” she was quoted as saying. A startled Abure reportedly replied, “How can?” But Mama Pee pressed further: “In case nobody has told you, you’re the one frustrating Nigerians. Are you not Julius Abure? What are you doing with the Labour Party? Police are looking for you. You’ve destroyed the Labour Party, and you’re entering an aeroplane? May God punish all of you.”

The confrontation did not end at the Abuja airport. Upon arrival in Benin, Mama Pee was allegedly attacked by individuals suspected to be loyalists of Abure. A viral video from the Benin Airport shows a scuffle near the exit area, with some persons dragging the activist before security and immigration officers intervened to restore calm.

Reacting, Ogbaloi described the incident as regrettable and unnecessary, urging members of the party and supporters of the Obidient Movement to exercise restraint.

“We call for calm and unity among all members, supporters, and the broader Obidient family. Leadership, whether current or former, must be exercised with humility and accountability to foster peace and harmony within our ranks and beyond,” he said.

He maintained that disagreements should always be resolved through dialogue rather than violence.

“Mama Pee is a member of the Obidient Movement, but we firmly believe that the confrontation was unnecessary and avoidable. The escalation of what could have been a constructive conversation into a public spectacle is deeply regrettable,” he added.
