Arise News has announced the burial arrangements for its late journalist, Somtochukwu Christella Maduagwu, who tragically lost her life during an armed robbery at her Abuja residence on September 29, 2025.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

According to the media network, an Evening of Tributes will hold on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at the THISDAY Dome, Central Business District, Abuja.

This will be followed by a Service of Songs on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at the Corpus Christi Cathedral, Kaduna Street, Port Harcourt.

The late broadcaster will be laid to rest in her hometown, Agulu, Anambra State, on Saturday, October 18, 2025, after a funeral mass at St. Theresa Catholic Church, Agulu, Arise News confirmed in a statement on Saturday.

Maduagwu, aged 29, was a lawyer, model, and seasoned broadcaster, who worked as an anchor, reporter, and producer at Arise TV until her untimely death.

She was reportedly killed during a violent robbery in Katampe, Abuja, where a security guard, Barnabas Danlami, also lost his life.

Meanwhile, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has confirmed the arrest of 12 suspects linked to the crime.

Police spokesperson SP Josephine Adeh revealed that preliminary investigations tied the gang to cross-border arms trafficking, noting that the syndicate sourced weapons—including a locally made AK-47 rifle, a pump-action gun, and a pistol—from an arms dealer operating along the Nigeria–Niger border.

The suspects were paraded before journalists on Saturday, as investigations continue into the tragic killing.
