Speaking during his monthly media chat in Abuja on Thursday, Wike claimed that it was during Buhari’s era that the PDP faced its most severe external onslaught.

“Let me tell you something — when Buhari was in power, there was nothing the government didn’t do to scatter the PDP,” Wike said.

According to the minister, former Borno State governor Ali Modu Sheriff was used at the time to destabilize the party.

“In fact, Ali Modu Sheriff was being used to scatter the PDP back then. But we stood firm and ensured the party remained united,” he added.

Wike stressed that, unlike the past administration, the current government has made no attempt to undermine the PDP.

“Today, there’s not even any effort by this government to weaken the PDP. The problem is that some of you are destroying your own party from within,” he declared.

Reflecting on his experience as governor of Rivers State, Wike revealed that he faced serious threats during his tenure but refused to succumb to intimidation.

“As a governor, I faced major threats. That alone could have made me back down to save myself, but I stood my ground,” he said.
