Dear OldBoy!
This is your old boy Adolphus Arebanmhen Aletor (Senior Prefect 1990). I hope this message meets you all well, hale and healthy.
Today, I have decided to bring my aspiration home, for this is my home – my primary constituency. I have declared to run for the office of the Governor of Edo state come 2024.
It is nolonger news to us how hard we have worked to fund our alma mater to ensure that minimum standard of learning is sustained. You and I have used our resources to develop infrastructure, pay teachers, pay for external exams and things have not changed that much. You cannot move forward by doing a thing in a particular manner and expect a different result. We need to change the narrative. We need to change tactics to enable us achieve our desired result. I have addressed proposals on school reform to the government severally but unfortunately, I am unable to get any response. I do not want us to continue to stay on the fence. We have got to get our hands dirty.
I do not have a house in my village yet but my investment in developing humanity in my village would have given me a sizeable accommodation. Instead, I chose to develop my people, to give them a good life with my personal resources. This has not been enough and that is why my wife and lovely children have approved for me to proceed to serve our people. My children say they are willing to make sacrifices including my non avaialablility for them as usual in order to fix things back home. They want me to create in my state the kind of home they are used to.
This is why I call on you Old Boy, to join my family in this sacrifice. Join me in this journey to the leadership of Edo state. The journey will be tedious. It you join me, it will be easier. We will all share the weight. And when we make it to the Governorship, it will be to the delight of all Bosconians.
I make this promise today that there shall be a FREE PASS for ALL Bosconians to the Government House when I become Governor. I will open that door of opportunity for you. What ever you make of that opportunity will be determined by how far you can dream or see. This is my promise to you!
Our people, all Edo people will experience good life. They will be prosperous. I will fix the schools amongst others:
1. I will hand schools over to Old Boys with strong and deliberate support from the government.
2. I will build Dispensaries in the 193 wards and name them after my friends and well wishers that sponsors the setting up of such. High fever that leads to seizures, brain damage and convulsion in our children will be a thing of the past. Our children’s life shall make a meaning.
3. I will bing back local government administration in line with the constitution of Nigeria. I have submitted a proposal on LG reforms in the past to government but it was ignored. I will show us an example of how LG administration is the strongest tool for a good life at the grassroot.
4. I will engage the youths. Many are currently idle. My engagement plan will give them hope of a new Edo state.
4. I will provide interest free loans to support our micro enterprises. I have commenced this on a small scale and shall develop it. I shall work with all our Micro Finance Institutions (MFIs) to create wealth for our enterprising citizens.
5. I will address roads. Even if it means my rolling on the floor for the person that has the key to the vault to pay for the roads, I will do. I am young. I am am village boy. So I will not be too big to roll, grovel, beg and plead for road in my state to be done.
