Social Media Erupts As Zainab Balogun Reveals ₦10,000 Price Tag For Tea In Lagos Café

In a video shared on her Instagram page, Zainab recounted that she had gone out for lunch with a friend but decided to order only green tea since she wasn’t hungry. The drink was served in a pot with a large cup, and she enjoyed it—until the bill arrived.

To her surprise, the tea cost ₦10,000 — a price she described as outrageous for what she said was merely hot water and two tea bags.

“My mouth dropped so much I was hoping the people next to me didn’t see that flies were catching it,” she joked. “What do you mean you boiled water, put two tea bags, and it was ₦10,000?”

Zainab said she had no choice but to pay since she had already finished the tea.

“I obviously couldn’t argue with them because I drank their tea. There’s no way to return it,” she said.

The actress humorously added that she regretted not taking pictures at the restaurant to make the hefty bill feel worthwhile.

“I should have joined another lady doing a photo shoot. You must use your money and the space well,” she quipped.

Reflecting on the experience, Zainab said it taught her a lesson about Lagos dining. She vowed to be more cautious in the future, joking that she would rather make her own tea at home next time.
