A United States lawmaker, Congressman Riley Moore, has accused the Nigerian Federal Government of failing to properly account for the billions of dollars in military assistance it has received from Washington, alleging that Christians continue to be killed despite years of U.S. support.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Moore, who chairs the investigative committee established by former President Donald Trump to probe alleged religious persecution in Nigeria, made the remarks during an interview on The Dinesh D’Souza Show on Thursday night.

Expressing deep frustration, the congressman said the persistent attacks on Christians had gone largely unanswered by Nigerian authorities and the international community.

“My brothers and sisters in Christ are being murdered for practising their faith and belief in our Lord Jesus Christ,” he said, warning that continued inaction could have grave security consequences.

Moore cautioned that the unchecked violence could enable terrorist groups to strengthen their foothold in Nigeria.

“If we don’t address this and terrorists take hold in Nigeria, I promise you, we’ll have to confront it one way or another,” he added.

The U.S. lawmaker accused the Nigerian government of neglecting the protection of Christians despite receiving extensive military assistance and training from the United States.

“They’ve been provided billions of dollars in security aid, training, and equipment to deal with this issue, yet it remains unresolved because protecting Christians is not being prioritised,” Moore said.

He lamented that the ongoing violence had remained “under the radar” for far too long, calling the situation a “forgotten genocide.”

“The mechanisms to address this are in place, but no one has paid attention for years. If we don’t stand up for our Christian values now, more innocent lives will be lost,” he warned.

Moore’s remarks came just days after former President Trump again accused Nigerian authorities of turning a blind eye to what he described as the “mass slaughter” of Christians.

“Christianity is facing an existential threat in Nigeria. Thousands of Christians are being killed by radical Islamists,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social account, adding that he was designating Nigeria as a “country of particular concern.”

Trump said he had directed U.S. lawmakers, including Moore and House Appropriations Committee Chairman Tom Cole, to take swift action and report back on the crisis.

“The United States cannot stand by while such atrocities are taking place in Nigeria and other countries,” he said.

However, the Nigerian Federal Government has consistently rejected Washington’s claims, insisting that the country’s security challenges cut across religious lines. Officials maintain that the violence is driven by terrorism, banditry, and communal conflicts—not systematic persecution of Christians.
