The Presiding Officer, IfeanyiChukwu Chikams Peace, announced the results at around 4:01 p.m. on Saturday. Ukachukwu secured 108 votes in Booth 1, while his rival from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) garnered just four votes.

In Booth 2 of the same Polling Unit 12, Ward 2, Umudiala Village, Osumenyi, the APC candidate extended his lead with 126 votes compared to APGA’s six.

After casting his ballot, Ukachukwu raised concerns about widespread reports of vote buying across the state, cautioning that such practices could undermine Nigeria’s democracy if not addressed promptly.

Despite these concerns, he expressed confidence in his chances, emphasizing that participating in the election was both his right and civic duty.

He also praised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the timely deployment of voting materials and staff, noting that the smooth start helped ensure an orderly process.

As counting continues across Anambra, sixteen candidates are vying to unseat Governor Chukwuma Soludo of APGA, who is seeking re-election.
