After G20 Diplomacy Sprint, Shettima Heads to Angola for Major AU-EU Talks
Vice President Kashim Shettima on Sunday departed Johannesburg for Luanda, Angola, where he will stand in for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the 7th African Union–European Union Summit. According to official communications from the Presidency, the AU-EU Summit will take place in the Angolan capital from November 24 to 25, bringing together Heads of State and Government, as well as young leaders, innovators and civil society representatives from both continents. The gathering is expected to address a broad range of shared priorities, including climate action, inclusive development, modern infrastructure, digital transformation, growth of the creative and manufacturing sectors, and advancements in agribusiness.
Policy analysts say the summit aims to generate implementable strategies that can strengthen cooperation between the African Union and the European Union while accelerating sustainable development across both regions. Vice President Shettima is expected to return to Nigeria at the conclusion of the two-day meeting.
