A former lawyer to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and human rights advocate, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, has outlined what he believes is the most effective path to securing Nnamdi Kanu’s release.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Ejiofor argued that respected Igbo political leaders—working in alignment with the proper authorities—must take the lead in championing Kanu’s freedom. He stressed that emotions and misinformation should no longer overshadow a strategic and coordinated intervention.
According to him, the complexity of Kanu’s legal situation requires more than public commentary or emotionally charged reactions. He insisted that influential Igbo political figures and top-tier legal experts must now step in.
Ejiofor stated, “Given the intricate nature of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s legal journey, and the sensitive mix of law, politics, diplomacy, and public sentiment surrounding it, it is my firm and sincere view that a structured, high-level intervention is now needed to replace the many well-meaning but strategically ineffective commentaries.”
He added that prominent Igbo leaders—those with unquestionable integrity—should spearhead the initiative, supported by key personalities from South-East state governments, federal cabinet members of Igbo extraction, and other influential national figures.
Ejiofor further explained that once this political vanguard is constituted, the next critical phase would be assembling an elite team of internationally recognised legal experts. They would take full control of the legal strategy, especially regarding the delicate appellate processes currently in play.
