Judicial Shake-Up: PDP Demands Three Judges Be Blocked From Handling Party Matters
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed alarm over what it described as a recurring pattern in the allocation of its court cases at the Federal High Court in Abuja, urging the Chief Judge, Justice John Terhemba Tsoho, to immediately intervene.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
In a letter dated November 19, 2025, and signed by the National Secretary, Amb. Taofeek Arapaja, the PDP noted that for years, almost every case filed by or against the party has consistently been assigned to the same three judges—Justice James Omotosho, Justice Peter Odo Lifu, and Justice Abdulmalik.
According to the party, this trend has raised serious concerns among its members, especially given that the Abuja Division has 12 judges, yet PDP-related matters repeatedly end up before these three courts.
The letter stated that many party members have complained about the situation, adding that the three courts have become widely viewed as “courts of particular concern” whenever PDP issues are involved.
Although the PDP clarified that it is not questioning the competence or integrity of the judges, it stressed that a fair and transparent case distribution system is crucial to sustaining public trust in the judiciary.
The party emphasised that justice “must not only be done but must be seen to be done,” and appealed to Justice Tsoho to ensure that future cases involving the PDP are allotted to other judges within the Abuja Division.
With more politically sensitive cases expected ahead of the 2026–2027 election cycle, the PDP urged the Chief Judge to ensure that none of its upcoming matters are assigned to the three aforementioned judges.
The party also commended the Federal High Court under Justice Tsoho’s leadership, saying its request was aimed at deepening transparency and strengthening faith in the judicial process.
