Ex-PDP Spokesman Olisa Metuh Clears The Air On Missing ₦400 Million Allegations

Metuh was accused of diverting ₦400 million intended for the purchase of security equipment during the Goodluck Jonathan administration and was arraigned during the late President Muhammadu Buhari’s tenure.
Speaking to journalists on Tuesday ahead of his 60th birthday, Metuh denied that any money was missing. He clarified that the funds were provided by the PDP government at the time and were not related to campaign or security expenditures.
“The truth is, as I approach 60, I have forgiven everyone involved—the judge, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the media used for trial by publicity, prosecutors, and all key actors,” Metuh said. “I want Nigerians to know that no ₦400 million went missing anywhere.”
He added that the funds were allocated to him as the lead of a team headed by former BoT chairman Chief Tony Anenih, with involvement from officials in the Presidency, academia, and the media. Metuh said the group submitted a detailed report, which even drew commendation from former President Jonathan for its transparency.
Metuh also praised the current administration under President Bola Tinubu for adopting a more tolerant approach toward criticism, contrasting it with the harsher stance of the previous government. “The present government has been quite different; it has shown more tolerance, unlike the last administration, which was too harsh on the opposition. I am a survivor of that era,” he said.
