Speaking during an interview on Arise News, Baba-Ahmed claimed that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is still unsettled by some of the statements he made during the election period. He expressed frustration that Nigerians ignored his warnings at the time.
According to him, citizens must stop relying on foreign nations—particularly the United States—to fix Nigeria’s problems.
“I almost stopped the swearing-in of this government. Till today, some people still blame me for it. Since the comments I made, the APC has not recovered,” he said.
“We kept warning Nigerians, but they refused to listen. Now we are paying a heavy price. No foreign country will do for you what you refuse to do for yourself. Americans won’t bomb you into development. Nigerians, wake up.”
Explaining the values behind his political stance, Baba-Ahmed said: “I love Nigeria. I want Nigeria to work. That’s what guides every decision I make.”
He criticized the nation’s pattern of elevating leaders driven solely by self-interest and the pursuit of re-election.
“Nigeria should never again have leaders whose only concern is personal interest,” he argued.
He urged Nigerians to resist any attempt at electoral manipulation in the upcoming 2027 elections.
“Don’t allow anyone to rig in 2027. They will do it, and to them, you mean nothing. The Constitution means nothing, because one individual will insist on interpreting it however he wants,” he warned.
Shifting to education—a sector he prioritizes—Baba-Ahmed spoke about the principles behind establishing Baze University.
“Our family’s legacy is education. Whenever I complain about something, I take action,” he said.
He criticized the proliferation of illegally established institutions, alleging that the government frequently violates its own regulations.
“Even when an education policy exists, they disregard it. Universities are being approved to operate in rented buildings. It’s illegal,” he said angrily.
Baba-Ahmed further claimed that some regulators have attempted to undermine Baze University.
“They want to fight me. They want to dilute the quality. But I will always speak the truth, regardless of the consequences,” he vowed.
