Kalu, who represents Bende Federal Constituency, made the appeal during a series of courtesy visits across Abia State’s three senatorial zones — Abia North, Abia Central and Abia South.

According to him, the most realistic pathway to producing an Igbo president is through strong political alliances, particularly by aligning with the South West. He also echoed President Tinubu’s directive to All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders to deepen engagement with party stakeholders.

During his tour, Kalu visited former Senate Chief Whip and ex-Abia State Governor, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, in Abia North; met with Senator John Bob Nwannunu in Abia Central; and paid a courtesy call on APC chieftain and former Managing Director of the defunct Hallmark Bank, Mac Wabara, in Abia South.

The lawmaker urged Igbos to adopt a strategic and pragmatic approach to politics, stressing that votes should be seen as investments rather than wasted opportunities.

He further charged APC stakeholders to immediately step up grassroots mobilisation and strategic engagement ahead of the 2027 general elections, expressing confidence that the party now has the structure, momentum and political strength to secure a clear victory in Abia State.

Kalu declared that the era of negotiating for just 25 per cent of votes for the president in Abia was over, insisting that the APC is now positioned to win outright in the state.

He praised President Tinubu’s leadership, describing his policies as tough but necessary, and said the country was already beginning to reap the benefits of those decisions.

“Igbos must invest their votes wisely. The time for protest voting or emotional decisions is over. Politics is driven by numbers, not sentiments,” Kalu said.

He explained that casting votes where they do not contribute to victory weakens the region’s ability to negotiate for political benefits, likening votes to financial investments that yield dividends only when wisely placed.

“The vote is our currency. When the time comes, let us invest it where it will count. Today, in political calculations, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is where our investment will yield results,” he added
