The North Africans booked their place in the last eight with a narrow 1–0 win in Rabat, sealed by substitute Anis Boulbina’s decisive strike in the 119th minute.

That hard-earned triumph sets up a highly anticipated quarter-final clash with Nigeria, who confirmed their passage on Monday night following an emphatic 4–0 demolition of Mozambique.

A number of continental heavyweights have also progressed to the quarter-finals, including Senegal, Mali, hosts Morocco, Cameroon and Egypt.

Defending champions Côte d’Ivoire continued their title defence in impressive fashion, easing past Burkina Faso with a comfortable 3–0 victory.
