In a decisive stride toward safer food systems and improved public health, the Vice Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Livestock, Hon. Engr. Esosa Iyawe FNSE, has commissioned the fully rehabilitated Sunny Omokaro Abattoir in Oredo Federal Constituency, a landmark intervention facilitated through the Federal Ministry of Livestock.

The project signals more than infrastructure renewal. It represents a bold commitment to dignity in food processing, healthier communities, and sustainable livelihoods for those whose daily work feeds the nation. Addressing stakeholders at the commissioning, Iyawe underscored a simple but powerful truth: healthy livestock is the gateway to safe nutrition, economic stability, and collective wellbeing.

Now reborn with modern standards, the abattoir features a solar-powered borehole ensuring constant clean water, a brand-new generator guaranteeing uninterrupted operations, and upgraded sanitary facilities designed to uphold strict hygiene conditions. Together, these improvements transform the facility into a cleaner, safer, and more efficient hub for livestock processing in Oredo.

Beyond constituency impact, the intervention aligns strategically with Governor Monday Okpebholo’s development drive and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, reinforcing a shared vision where public health, agricultural modernization, and grassroots prosperity move forward in one coordinated rhythm.

With the commissioning of the Sunny Omokaro Abattoir, Oredo does not merely gain a facility. It gains confidence in the safety of its food, pride in modern standards, and renewed belief that purposeful leadership can turn everyday necessities into engines of community progress.
