A source within the anti-graft agency told Sahara Reporters that the interrogation followed the interception of the judge’s wife by EFCC operatives during a trip.

According to the source, the questioning was connected to a cash discovery involving the judge’s wife. Reports indicate that she was stopped by EFCC officials while travelling to Benue State and was subsequently returned to Abuja. At the time of the interception, operatives allegedly found about $160,000 in cash in her possession.

However, authorities have not yet officially clarified the source of the funds or the purpose of the trip.

Meanwhile, Justice Tsoho is also expected to appear before the Code of Conduct Bureau on March 16, 2026, over allegations related to asset declaration.

A petition filed against the Chief Judge claims he failed to disclose certain assets, including three bank accounts with United Bank for Africa and another account with Access Bank.

Under Nigerian law, public officials are required to declare all assets, liabilities, and bank accounts—including domiciliary accounts. If the bureau establishes a prima facie case, formal charges could be filed.

A conviction for such an offence could attract penalties including up to 10 years in prison and a 10-year ban from holding public office.

In response, the Federal High Court, through a statement by its Director of Information, Catherine Christopher, said the Chief Judge remains willing to cooperate fully with the investigation.

The statement added that Justice Tsoho will appear before the bureau with his legal counsel, Kanu Agabi, who is currently outside the country receiving medical treatment.

“The Honourable Chief Judge remains fully committed to cooperating with the Code of Conduct Bureau in respect of its invitation,” the statement said.

According to the court, Agabi has indicated that he will accompany Justice Tsoho to the bureau once he returns to Nigeria.
