Foluke Adeboye Reveals Why She Threw Her Gold Jewellery Into the Lagoon After Salvation

The wife of the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Foluke Adeboye, has shared how she disposed of her gold jewellery after becoming a born-again Christian.

She spoke about the experience while reflecting on her early journey in the church and the personal sacrifices she made in obedience to her faith.

Adeboye explained that she gave up her attachment to fashion after joining the RCCG, noting that wearing earrings was discouraged at the time.

“Every woman loves fashion. When we became born again in RCCG then, it was considered wrong to wear earrings. So I threw everything away into the lagoon,” she said.

She added that the items she discarded included valuable gold jewellery she had owned, as well as pieces meant for her child.

According to her, the decision was driven by her belief that such possessions were no longer in line with her new faith.

Adeboye also recalled how someone advised her that she could have given the jewellery to her mother to sell, but she stood by her choice.

“Whatever is not good for me is not good for my mother,” she said.

She maintained that she has no regrets about the decision, adding that she no longer misses the items she let go of.
