In a recent press release, the Nigerian Women Market Forum extended their congratulations to the President-Elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on his victory in the just-concluded 2023 presidential election. The forum praised Tinubu for his demonstrated capacity and willingness to build a nation that fulfills the dreams of its citizens.
The President-Elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has been recognized as a pillar of support for Nigerian women, having played a significant role in helping numerous members of the market community establish and sustain their businesses. Furthermore, Tinubu has been instrumental in the promotion and establishment of democracy in Nigeria.
As the President-Elect prepares for his inauguration on May 29th, the Nigerian Women Market Forum pledged their unwavering support and prayers for him and his government.
Additionally, the forum called upon the other contestants in the election to set aside their differences and rally behind the winner to ensure the successful delivery of democracy’s dividends to the nation.
The Nigerian Women Market Forum stressed the importance of inclusiveness and reminded President-Elect Tinubu of his campaign promise to allocate 35% of positions to women.
In line with this, the forum urged Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) to employ their zoning formula to grant them the position of Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives.
According to the APC National Working Committee, the position of Deputy Speaker has been zoned to the South East. In light of this, the forum highlighted the candidacy of Rt Hon Miriam Onuoha, the sole female contestant vying for the position in the 10th Assembly. The forum implored President-Elect Tinubu, the APC, and all members of the 10th Assembly to support Onuoha’s bid for Deputy Speaker.
The Nigerian Women Market Forum expressed their belief that President-Elect Tinubu would continue to support Nigerian women as the 10th Assembly commences its tenure.
They offered prayers for the good health and strength of both the President-Elect and Vice President-Elect, wishing them success in leading the nation.
The press release concluded with a blessing for the Nigerian women, their husbands, children, and a hope for further victories for women in future elections.
