Easter Surprise: Benue Govt Announces 7-Day Holiday Break Across The State

This directive was issued in a statement on Tuesday by the Permanent Secretary (General Services), Godwin Tighil, on behalf of the Secretary to the State Government, Deborah Aber.

Titled “Declaration of Public Holiday To Mark Easter Celebration,” the statement indicated that workers are expected to begin the holiday on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, and resume duties on Wednesday, April 8, 2026.

The directive was approved by the Governor of Benue State, Hyacinth Iormem Alia.

According to the statement, all public and civil servants are to proceed on Easter break from 1 p.m. on March 31, 2026.

However, workers in essential services have been instructed to remain at their posts to handle urgent and critical public responsibilities.

The government further emphasized that only essential personnel should continue working during the holiday period to ensure the smooth handling of important services.

Governor Alia also extended Easter greetings to the people of Benue State, encouraging them to use the period to pray for peace and unity in both the state and the nation.

The announcement represents the first time the governor has approved a one-week Easter holiday for state workers. Previously, he had granted a two-week holiday for Christmas celebrations.
