According to the scheme, the 21-day orientation exercise will take place simultaneously in all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
In a statement issued by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Caroline Embu, the programme will begin with the arrival and registration of prospective corps members on Wednesday, April 22, 2026.
Registration is scheduled to continue until midnight on Friday, April 24, 2026, while the swearing-in ceremony—marking the official start of national service—will also be held on that same day.
The NYSC added that the orientation course will conclude on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, following the completion of the mandatory three-week training.
The programme typically features paramilitary drills, lectures, and skill acquisition sessions designed to prepare participants for their service year.
The scheme also advised prospective corps members to prioritise safety while travelling, warning against night journeys. It recommended that travellers stop by 6:00 p.m. and stay overnight at designated safe locations such as corps lodges, military formations, police stations, or traditional rulers’ residences before continuing their trips the next day.
