The decision was made during the party’s national convention in Abuja, convened by the faction led by former Senate President David Mark.
The convention, held at the Rainbow Events Centre, drew over 3,000 delegates and political stakeholders as the party stepped up preparations for the 2027 general elections.
In addition to Bala-Gombe and Abejide, the party also expelled Kenneth Ehiator, Stella Chukwu, and Elias Adiukwu.
The motion for their expulsion was moved on the convention floor by Senator Binos Yaroe, representing Adamawa South, and was quickly seconded and approved by the delegates present.
The move comes amid an ongoing leadership struggle between Bala-Gombe and David Mark over control of the party at the national level.
Recently, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) removed the names of David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola from its official portal as National Chairman and National Secretary of the ADC.
INEC also stated that it would not recognise Nafiu Bala-Gombe, who is seeking to be declared national chairman through a pending court case.
In a statement, the commission announced that it would suspend recognition of all factions within the party and would not monitor any conventions or congresses organised by groups linked to the rival leaders.
According to INEC, this position will remain until the Federal High Court delivers a final judgment on the substantive suit.
The development highlights the deepening leadership crisis within the ADC, which has been further complicated by a recent Court of Appeal ruling and multiple legal battles over the party’s leadership structure.
