He described the outcome as a “miscalculated national political move.”

Uzodinma made the remarks while receiving leaders of the Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), led by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, at the Government House in Owerri.

The meeting, held ahead of the party’s primaries, focused on strengthening unity within the APC in the South East and mobilising support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as preparations for the 2027 general elections gather momentum.

Addressing the gathering, Uzodinma stated that the political outcome in the region during the last election was an error that would not be repeated. He emphasized the need for party cohesion, urging members and stakeholders to set aside differences for the greater good of the region.

He noted that the South East largely supported opposition candidate Peter Obi in the previous presidential election.

The governor also highlighted the importance of aligning with the ruling party at the federal level, arguing that such alignment is key for the region to maintain relevance in national affairs.

According to him, increased participation within the APC would position the South East to benefit more from federal opportunities. He encouraged party members to deliver stronger electoral support for President Tinubu in 2027, expressing optimism that the APC would secure a decisive victory in the region.

Uzodinma further assured that efforts are being intensified to maintain peace and stability across the South East, while cautioning party members against allowing internal contests, particularly during the primaries, to create division within the party.
