Heavily armed police operatives reportedly stormed the Obanta Club area and sealed off the residence of former Ogun State governor, Gbenga Daniel, in Ijebu-Ode Local Government Area on Wednesday morning.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The operation disrupted a planned political gathering of supporters linked to the former governor, with reports indicating a strong security presence that included an Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC), causing tension and panic in the area.
According to reports, the security operatives allegedly halted a scheduled BAT/OGD Community Assessment and Review rally organised by Daniel’s political associates.
The BAT/OGD Movement—short for Bola Ahmed Tinubu/Otunba Gbenga Daniel Movement—is described as a grassroots platform mobilising support for President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid, as well as Daniel’s expected return to the Senate.
An aide to the former governor, who currently represents Ogun East Senatorial District in the Senate, claimed that access roads to Daniel’s residence were blocked by security personnel, preventing supporters from entering the venue.
He said the blockade made it impossible for the planned meeting to hold as scheduled on Wednesday, April 22, 2026.
Eyewitnesses also reported that several supporters were left stranded outside the area, expressing frustration after being denied access due to the heavy security deployment.
