A former Deputy President of the Senate, Ovie Omo-Agege, has officially declared his intention to contest the Delta Central Senatorial District seat in the 2027 elections.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In his declaration, Omo-Agege confirmed that he will be running on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), where he remains a prominent figure.

He previously served as Deputy Senate President during the 9th National Assembly and was the APC governorship candidate in Delta State in 2023. In that election, he was defeated by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who has since defected to the APC.

Omo-Agege has, however, firmly dismissed the idea of welcoming both Governor Oborevwori and former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa into the APC, insisting they are not acceptable to the party.

Speaking during a meeting with APC leaders, elders, and stakeholders from Ika South and Ika North East Local Government Areas, he declared that the APC has become the dominant political force in Delta State and continues to gain strength.

He argued that despite claims by the PDP that the APC is weak in the state, the party secured two senatorial seats and two House of Representatives seats in the last elections, with further gains expected through ongoing defections.

Omo-Agege further noted that in Delta Central Senatorial District, both he and Governor Oborevwori’s political base, the APC won the senatorial seat and two of the three House of Representatives seats, while the Labour Party secured one, leaving the PDP without representation in that category.

He also highlighted that former Governor Okowa has since left the PDP to join the APC, further strengthening the party’s position in the state.
