The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has rejected claims suggesting it may not participate in the 2027 general elections by fielding candidates.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In a statement issued on Saturday by its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the party described the reports as baseless, misleading, and intended to cause unnecessary confusion.

He stressed that the ADC remains committed to its goal of unseating the All Progressives Congress (APC) through the ballot and repositioning Nigeria.

Abdullahi also assured Nigerians that the party would present qualified and credible candidates in the 2027 elections, noting that it would not be distracted by unfounded rumours.

The statement read in part: “The African Democratic Congress (ADC) states clearly and without ambiguity that we remain committed to rescuing Nigeria from the failures of the APC-led administration and preventing any drift toward a one-party system.

“We have observed recent claims that the ADC will not field candidates in the 2027 elections. These assertions are completely false, mischievous, and aimed at creating confusion where none exists. They have no foundation in law, fact, or the reality of our preparations.

“The ADC will participate fully in the 2027 general elections. We will not only present candidates but individuals who are credible, competent, and widely acceptable, with the capacity to lead Nigeria out of its current challenges.

“We remain a law-abiding party, operating in line with the Constitution and the Electoral Act. There is no legal barrier to our participation in the elections, and any contrary narrative is a deliberate attempt to mislead the public and weaken confidence in our growing support base.

“As a leading opposition platform, we take our responsibility seriously. Our focus remains on grassroots mobilisation, building strong structures nationwide, and engaging Nigerians who are concerned about insecurity, rising living costs, and limited opportunities.

“We call on our members, supporters, and Nigerians at large to ignore these unfounded claims and remain focused on the task ahead.
