Galadima Reveals Why Atiku Must Join Obi, Kwankwaso In NDC Ahead Of 2027

Galadima warned that if Atiku refuses to align with the NDC, he could be blamed should the opposition fail to unseat President Bola Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress.
He made the appeal on Monday during an interview on Channels Television, saying that unity among opposition leaders is necessary to present a strong front ahead of the 2027 elections.
According to him, key opposition figures such as former presidential candidates Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso are already within the NDC structure, and Atiku is expected to join them to strengthen the coalition.
He argued that just as some politicians moved into earlier opposition platforms to support Atiku’s political journey, he should now reciprocate by joining the NDC.
Galadima said, “The truth of the matter is that Peter Obi and Kwankwaso migrated into the ADC; they brought unity of opposition to unseat Tinubu. Unfortunately, there are insinuations that the APC, the government and, by extension, Tinubu used the courts to weaken the opposition.”
He added, “This is why I am calling on former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to follow us as we followed him, so that there will be unity of opposition. If he refuses, Atiku will be held responsible.”
He further stated that most major political actors are now aligning with the NDC, and urged Atiku to join for the sake of opposition unity.
According to him, failure to join would weaken efforts to present a united front against the incumbent administration.
Galadima also suggested that staying outside the NDC could amount to forfeiting influence in the 2027 political contest.
Meanwhile, Atiku has denied reports suggesting he plans to defect to the NDC following recent political realignments.
In a statement issued through his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, he described the defection claims as false, insisting that there are no ongoing discussions about leaving his current political platform.
