APC Fires At Otti, Says Performance Should Speak Without ‘Shopping’ For Support
The Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has denied reports claiming that the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, endorsed Governor Alex Otti for a second term ahead of the 2027 elections.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
In a statement issued on Friday, the APC Publicity Secretary in Abia State, Uche Aguoru, described the reports as false, misleading and part of what he called a deceptive propaganda campaign allegedly being pushed by Governor Otti’s media team.
The party questioned why an administration that constantly celebrates its own performance would allegedly be seeking political endorsements.
Aguoru said the APC would ordinarily have ignored the reports but decided to respond to prevent members of the public from being misled.
The statement read, “We wish to state that Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu remains a loyal, committed and dedicated party man, as well as the undisputed leader of the APC in Abia State.
“Is it not embarrassing that a government that prides itself on self-praise is now desperately shopping for endorsements?
“Let it be made clear that at no time, publicly or privately, has Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu endorsed Governor Alex Otti for a second term.”
The APC further maintained that Kalu remains committed to the party’s ambition of winning all elective positions in Abia State, including taking over the Government House in Umuahia in 2027.
According to the party, the Deputy Speaker remains determined to ensure the APC replaces the current Labour Party administration in the state.
The statement added that many residents believe the state has been poorly managed in key sectors under the present government.
The APC also urged residents of Abia State to remain united and continue supporting the party as it positions itself as a credible alternative ahead of future elections.
