The announcement was made in a statement issued on Friday by the party’s National Chairman, Moses Cleopas, and shared via the party’s account.

According to the statement, delegates from across the country have been invited to participate in the convention, which is expected to unite party members and key stakeholders.

The event is scheduled to take place at the Los Angeles Event Centre in Abuja’s Federal Capital Territory, with proceedings set to commence at 10 a.m.

The party noted that all arrangements had been finalized and advised delegates to arrive early ahead of the start of activities.

“The Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) welcomes all delegates to its inaugural national convention holding on Saturday, 9th May 2026, at Los Angeles Event Centre, Ahmadu Bello Way, FCT Abuja, by 10 a.m.,” the statement said.

Meanwhile, the NDC has rejected reports suggesting it has entered into a political alliance with former President Goodluck Jonathan ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

The party maintained that discussions concerning its presidential candidate are still ongoing and that no conclusion has been reached.

Speaking in Abuja on Thursday, the party’s Deputy National Spokesman, Abdulmumin Abdulsalam, stated that the NDC had neither zoned its presidential ticket nor struck any agreement with Jonathan.

“The NDC is a party that believes in consultations and the exchange of ideas at every level,” he said.

“I can categorically state that the presidential ticket has not been zoned. Discussions are still ongoing because politics remains dynamic.
